James Martin, 46, called Chris Evans, 52, out on his Virgin Radio Breakfast Show as he revealed the host failed in rising a lot of money for charity.

The chef said he asked the DJ to appear with him on a celebrity version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? but it didn’t go down well.

James began: “I got invited to a certain quiz show, which is quite popular at the moment, it’s back on screen, the Millionaire thing.

“I was thinking, I know a little bit, but not as much as a mate of mine, so I phone up a so-called mate of mine.

“I know nothing about music and general knowledge so thought general knowledge and music has got to be Mr Evans!”

The star continued, discussing their 2010 appearance: “You know he’s got plenty of time off, once he’s done the radio thing, to read. I don’t read, I’m too busy in the kitchen.

“We were in the chair for about 30 seconds and it cost me. It cost me for going!”

James explained he had promised a charity he would raise enough money to pay for two go-karts for people who have lost their limbs.

“We didn’t raise enough money for that,” James added.

Laughing away, Chris said: “We didn’t raise anything.”

However, the former BBC Radio 2 star admitted he’d had an “enjoyable” day out.

“I liked it, I had a good time,” he said, before revealing: “Bit of the show you’re not telling James, is you met your partner who you’re still with!”

James said: “Oh yeah, exactly! I won!”

On the show, the pair walked away with £500.

Meanwhile, Chris has recently spoken out about appearing on the next series of Strictly Come Dancing.

The radio host has continually said he is set to join the line-up when it returns in September to BBC One, despite an official announcement not yet being made.

Chris told professional dancer Kevin Clifton, 36, he is all ready to go and has “got his contract”.

He spilled to the Grimsby-born star: “I’ve got my contract.

“I’ve got to go for a medical because I’ve got a dodgy left knee so I can run on it, I can go straight but I have an issue with my knee so that could be a problem.”

Kevin responded joking that the best way to solve the problem was to go on a night out with him.

Virgin Radio Breakfast Show with Chris Evans continues weekdays at 6.30am.

Strictly Come Dancing 2019 returns later this year to BBC One.
